Start with the rooms and how you listen

Do you want quiet background music in the kitchen, focused stereo listening in the living room or independent music in different bedrooms? Those uses lead to different speaker positions and zone arrangements. We plan around furniture, normal listening areas and the way your household controls music rather than fitting the same speaker count in every room.

In-ceiling speakers and the alternatives

In-ceiling speakers can give a discreet finish where the ceiling depth, structure and cable access suit them. In-wall or surface speakers may be a better fit where cutting the ceiling is impractical or where the listening position calls for a different arrangement. Suitable garden or outdoor zones need equipment and cable routes specified for the environment; indoor speakers should not simply be moved outside.

Zones, amplifiers and networked audio

A zone is an area you want to control independently. Speaker quantity, amplifier channels, electrical loading and independent music sources are related but different decisions. We can install suitable amplifiers and networked systems such as Sonos where appropriate, without claiming dealer or manufacturer-authorised status. Product compatibility and any music-service subscriptions are confirmed for the chosen setup.

  • Kitchen, living-space and bedroom zones
  • Suitable outdoor or garden audio
  • Central amplifier or rack positions
  • Speaker cabling with labelled destinations
  • Wi-Fi or wired network requirements
  • Simple volume, source and grouping controls

Plan before plastering; retrofit with care

New builds and renovations offer a useful chance to route speaker cables before ceilings close. We coordinate positions and access with your trades through the existing Smart Home planning service. In finished homes we assess voids and access first, then explain the cable route and any making good required. Concealment is agreed around the building, not promised regardless of access.

Commissioning that makes everyday use simple

We check each speaker and zone, confirm the agreed source and network connections and demonstrate the controls. The handover covers grouping rooms, changing volume, basic troubleshooting and where equipment is located. Keep amplifier ventilation and service access in the plan so the finished system remains usable and maintainable.

Music throughout the home, sound for the media room

Whole-home music and film surround sound have different jobs. If the main aim is TV, gaming or films, see Home Cinema & Media Rooms. If you are working out a speaker layout, our guide to how many in-ceiling speakers you need explains what to decide before holes are cut.
