Commercial infrastructure first

The network should disappear into the background while the business gets on with the day.

Manchester sites range from compact offices and retail units to hospitality venues, multi-floor workspaces, warehouses and mixed-use buildings. The technology problem is rarely just "the Wi-Fi". Staff laptops, phones, card terminals, CCTV, printers, displays and guest devices all depend on the same underlying infrastructure.

We approach that infrastructure as one system. The incoming internet connection, cable routes, switches, access points and device separation are planned together so one weak component is not undermining everything else.

Existing equipment is not automatically replaced. If a switch, access point or broadband service is still doing its job, we can design around it and concentrate the budget on the actual bottleneck.

Good-fit Manchester projects
  • Office and commercial Wi-Fi upgrades
  • Structured cabling and cabinet installations
  • Retail, hospitality and payment-network reliability
  • Premises moves, refurbishments and fit-outs
  • Large homes and demanding home-office networks
  • TV wall mounting, aerial, CCTV and AV projects

Commercial networks and business Wi-Fi

Give staff, guests and business-critical devices the network they actually need.

A domestic-style router can look perfectly adequate until thirty devices, a busy lunch service or a full office starts using it. Commercial Wi-Fi needs sensible access-point placement, enough wired capacity underneath it and clear separation between the devices that should not share the same network.

We install and improve business network infrastructure including managed switches, ceiling access points, network cabinets and staff or guest Wi-Fi. Where appropriate, CCTV, payment terminals, VoIP, guest traffic and other device groups can be separated so the network is easier to secure, troubleshoot and manage.

For existing premises, the first job is understanding what is already there. A channel problem, overloaded switch or badly positioned access point can sometimes be fixed without rebuilding the whole network.

Structured data cabling and fibre

Build the wired backbone before asking Wi-Fi to carry everything.

Structured cabling gives desks, access points, CCTV, VoIP equipment and network hardware a predictable connection. We install Cat6 and Cat6a as individual runs or as part of a central cabinet and patch-panel layout, with PoE used where suitable for devices such as access points and cameras.

Fibre becomes useful where distance, electrical separation or the required backbone makes copper the wrong choice. The right answer depends on the premises and route; we do not specify fibre simply because it sounds more advanced.

This is particularly relevant during Manchester office moves, refurbishments and fit-outs, where deciding the cable routes before the space is finished is cleaner than trying to retrofit every link afterwards.

  • Cat6 and Cat6a structured cabling
  • PoE for access points, phones and CCTV
  • Patch panels and cabinet terminations
  • Fibre optic links where appropriate
  • Office moves and refurbishment cabling
  • Testing and clear labelling at handover

Business internet and resilience

A strong internal network still needs the right connection feeding it.

Manchester businesses often have good fixed connectivity options, so the priority is choosing a connection that fits the site and deciding what happens when that connection has a fault. Card terminals, cloud software, VoIP and remote access can make even a short outage disruptive.

Depending on the premises, resilience can mean a second fixed service, mobile backup or a router capable of moving traffic between connections. The design should protect the functions that matter rather than adding backup technology simply for the sake of it.

We can look at the internet service and the network behind it together, which avoids situations where a faster line is ordered but an old router, switch or access point remains the real limitation.

Premium residential networks

Larger homes and serious home offices benefit from commercial network thinking too.

Didsbury, Chorlton, Sale, Altrincham, Hale, Bowdon, Worsley and the surrounding areas include larger and extended properties where one ISP router is unlikely to cover the whole building well. Home offices, media rooms, CCTV, smart-home devices and garden spaces can all compete for the same wireless capacity.

A wired backbone with properly positioned access points usually gives a more stable result than stacking extenders through the property. Existing mesh equipment can still be retained where it is suitable; the aim is reliable coverage, not turning a home into an unnecessary enterprise network.

TV installation and aerial services

The Manchester service range does not stop at networks.

EDD also works across Manchester on television installation and signal projects. That includes TV wall mounting and media-wall work, new or replacement TV aerials, signal faults and the removal of redundant aerial or satellite equipment.

If the job is TV-related, use the routes below to go straight to the relevant service and see what the work involves.

CCTV, commercial AV and display projects

Connected systems are easier to support when the network underneath them is planned too.

CCTV cameras, NVRs, commercial screens and other connected systems often share the same cable routes, cabinets, switches and internet connection as the core network. Where the project suits EDD, those systems can be considered together instead of treating every device as a separate job.

This is where our broader technology scope is useful: one engineer-led team can look at the physical network and the equipment relying on it, then own the fault path when two systems overlap.

How we approach the job

Start with the problem, then work backwards to the equipment.

A faster access point cannot repair a bad cable, and a better bracket cannot fix a poor TV signal. Understanding what the finished system needs to do makes it easier to spend money on the part that actually needs changing.

  1. 01

Start with what must keep working

Tell us which staff, devices, rooms and systems depend on the network and where the current problems are.

  2. 02

    Survey the physical site

We plan access-point positions, cable routes, cabinet locations and connection options around the actual premises.

  3. 03

    Build the right backbone

Cabling, switching, Wi-Fi and internet resilience are sized around the job rather than added as unrelated pieces of equipment.

  4. 04

    Configure, test and hand over

The agreed system is configured and tested so the important areas and devices are working as intended before handover.

Why Evolution

One engineer-led team when the internet, cabling and equipment overlap.

Problem-led

We start with what is failing or what the finished system must achieve, not a pre-set equipment bundle.

Proportionate

Working equipment can stay. The recommendation should match the premises rather than over-engineer it.

One connected system

Internet, cabling, Wi-Fi, CCTV, TV and other connected equipment can be considered together where the project requires it.

Clear ownership

One technical contact can follow a fault across connected systems instead of passing the problem between separate installers.
