The brief: a finished media wall with connectivity still to solve
This Prestwich home had a purpose-built recessed media wall, with power and AV provision already prepared for the television. The customer wanted a clean large-screen installation, but there was another practical issue: no dedicated data cable had been brought to the media-wall position, and the existing Wi-Fi signal around the living room was poor.
The display and the network needed to work together. Evolution took on the TV mounting and Wi-Fi improvement as one project, keeping the finished room and future access in mind.
Why the full-motion bracket mattered
A large screen can fit neatly into a recess while making the connections behind it difficult to reach. The full-motion bracket allowed the OLED television to be pulled forward during installation and for future access, then returned close to the media wall for the finished look.
The bracket choice was about practical access as well as appearance. Power and AV connections still need to be reachable once the display is in place. This is part of the planning behind our TV wall mounting service.
The missing data cable in a finished room
Network provision is easy to overlook when the focus is on the shape and finish of a media wall. Here, the construction was already complete without a dedicated data cable to the TV position. Reopening the feature wall would have meant further disruption to a finished room.
The useful question was how to improve the living-room connection within the property as it stood. The response needed to suit that specific gap in coverage, rather than automatically turning the work into a larger rebuild.
A dedicated UniFi access point closer to the living room
Evolution installed a dedicated UniFi wireless access point closer to the living room to improve local Wi-Fi coverage. It gave the room a stronger local wireless source instead of relying on the weaker existing signal from elsewhere in the home.
The aim was a proportionate improvement for the area that needed it. Our home Wi-Fi and network installations start with the layout, existing coverage and the rooms people actually use, so the equipment serves a clear purpose.
The result: display and connectivity handled together
The project brought together a large OLED television mounted neatly within the media-wall recess and a dedicated UniFi access point positioned to improve Wi-Fi around the living room. The full-motion bracket retained access behind the screen, so the tidy mounting position did not make future connections unnecessarily difficult.
One engineering team handled both parts of the job. The customer had one point of contact for the television installation and the connectivity problem around the same finished room.
Planning a media wall? Include the network before the walls close
The lesson from this project is to plan the display, power, AV and network requirements together. Before the wall is closed and decorated, think about where the television and connected equipment will sit, how the connections will reach them and how they will be accessed later.
