One accountable team

Design, cable, commission and support — from the same engineers.

Network-first design

Every reliable smart home starts with a properly documented network.

Local, engineer-led

15+ years across Stockport, Manchester and Cheshire. 5.0 on Google.

What a complete smart home includes

Every connected system, planned as one.

As experienced local smart home installers, we plan every project as a coordinated set of systems built on a shared network — so lights, heating, security, entertainment and access all sit on the reliable network foundation they need. Where suitable, essential systems are designed for local operation and resilience so key functions can keep working during a broadband outage.

Infrastructure
Network design & racks

Managed switches, VLANs, firewall and a properly documented cabinet — the brain of the whole system.

Cat6 & fibre cabling

First-fix structured cabling to every TV, AP, camera, control panel and outbuilding.

Enterprise Wi-Fi

Ceiling-mounted access points, single SSID, seamless roaming across the whole property.

Starlink & backup internet

Primary or resilience link — Starlink, 4G/5G and dual-WAN failover so the home stays online.

Garden rooms & outbuildings

Cabled network, Wi-Fi, CCTV and control extended cleanly to studios, gyms and outbuildings.

Security & Control
CCTV & alarms

4K IP cameras, NVR recording, and coordination with intruder-alarm and access-control specialists where certification is required.

Gates, access & intercoms

Video intercoms, keypad and app-controlled entry, integrated alongside existing gate and security installers.

Smart lighting & scenes

Designed alongside a registered electrician — dimming, scenes, circadian control, keypad and app operation.

Heating & climate

Room-by-room thermostats, zoned heating and integration with your existing boiler or heat-pump system.

Energy monitoring

Per-circuit consumption, solar and battery visibility, and usage dashboards you can actually read.

Entertainment & Property
TV, cinema & multi-room audio

Wall-mounted displays, media walls, dedicated cinema rooms and whole-home audio zones.

Motorised blinds & curtains

Wired or battery blinds and curtains tied into lighting scenes and daily schedules, working with specialist blind installers where needed.

Remote support & management

Ongoing monitoring of the network, small changes over the phone, and the same engineers who installed the system on the end of the line.

The foundation

Why the network and cabling always come first.

Almost every "why doesn't my smart home work properly?" call we take comes back to the same thing — a technology system built on top of an ISP router and a bag of extenders. A reliable smart home starts with a designed network: managed switching, a documented cable schedule, and Wi-Fi that covers the whole property from a single seamless SSID.

Get that right first, and every camera, doorbell, speaker, keypad, thermostat and light has the reliable foundation it needs to behave predictably. Get it wrong, and you spend the next few years rebooting things.

Everything on the property talks over one designed network. Devices that fail gracefully, cabling that's documented, and support that doesn't depend on any single app staying online.

A collection of smart devices

Separate apps, separate accounts, separate problems.

  • · One app per brand — lights, heating, cameras, doorbell, blinds
  • · Runs on whatever Wi-Fi comes with the ISP router
  • · Fails when the internet drops
  • · Nobody documents what's installed where
  • · Every product needs its own log-in and firmware routine
A designed smart-home system

One network, planned interfaces, real support.

  • · Managed network with VLANs for trusted, IoT, guest and CCTV traffic
  • · Seamless Wi-Fi coverage from a single SSID across the whole property
  • · Local operation designed in where it matters — key lighting, entry and camera functions kept working during broadband outages where the equipment supports it
  • · Documented cable schedule, labelled patch panel, handover pack
  • · One number to call — remote support from the same engineers who installed it
New builds & major renovations

Planned at first-fix, not bodged after.

The difference between a smart home that feels built-in and one that looks bolted-on is almost always timing. We come out to site once the layout is agreed, produce a network and cable specification, and get first-fix cabling installed alongside your electrician before the plasterboard goes on. Every TV point, access point, camera, keypad, sensor and screen ends up exactly where it needs to be — with no visible cable, no surface trunking, no compromises.

  • · Documented cable schedule your electrician can price against
  • · Rack location agreed before the plumber and joiner start
  • · First-fix, second-fix and commissioning phased to the build programme
Working alongside your trades

Specialist support for builders, electricians and architects.

We're happy to attend design meetings, produce technology drawings for your architect's package, and give your electrician a clear spec to work from. Where specialist work is needed — lighting keypads, motorised blinds, gate automation, alarm certification — we coordinate with registered electricians and trusted trade partners so the finished system is properly signed off by the right people.

  • · Design-only packages for design & build teams
  • · Attendance at architect and client design meetings
  • · Coordination with electrical, AV and security trades
  • · Handover documentation your IT provider can pick up
Our process

A six-stage project from consultation to ongoing support.

The same people are involved at every stage — no handovers between sales, design and install teams.

  1. 01
    Consultation

We visit, walk the property or the plans, and talk through what you actually want the technology to do.

  2. 02
    Design

Documented network diagram, cable schedule, AP and camera positions, control interfaces and hand-over spec.

  3. 03
    First-fix

Structured cabling installed alongside your electrician and joiner, before plasterboard goes on.

  4. 04
    Second-fix

Racks, switches, access points, screens, keypads and cameras terminated, tested and configured.

  5. 05
    Commissioning

Scenes, schedules, app access, user accounts and family walk-through — nothing left half-set-up.

  6. 06
    Ongoing support

Remote monitoring of the network, small changes as your household evolves, and a real person to call.

How you can work with us

Three levels of involvement.

Not every project needs a fully managed install. Choose the level that fits your build programme, your existing trades and how hands-on you want us to be.

Design-only

For clients with an existing electrician, builder or IT contractor. We produce the technology design and cable specification; your trades install it. Ideal on new builds where the electrical team wants a clear brief to work from.

Design & commissioning

We design the system and commission it once your builder has installed the cabling and containment to our spec. We rack the equipment, configure the network, set up scenes and hand the finished system over to you.

Complete managed installation

We handle the technology end to end — design, structured cabling, network, Wi-Fi, CCTV, entertainment and coordination with your other trades. One accountable team from first survey to final hand-over.

Upgrading existing homes

Retrofit — done tidily.

You don't need to be knocking a wall down to bring a house up to standard. On existing properties we run new cabling through lofts, cupboards and floor voids, mount access points and cameras discreetly, replace the ISP router with a proper gateway and rack, and add the individual smart systems you actually want — rather than a full-house rip out. Most jobs are phased so the home stays livable throughout.

  • · Discreet cable routing — chased into walls or hidden in existing voids
  • · Phased installation, room by room where needed
  • · Existing systems (Sky, Sonos, Hue, Ring, alarms) integrated where sensible
  • · Clear priorities — no push to replace kit that's working
Ongoing support

Real people, not a ticket queue.

Every managed installation includes a period of support after hand-over. Beyond that we offer ongoing arrangements for households that want the network monitored remotely, firmware kept in check, and a familiar engineer to call when something needs a small change — a new keypad scene, an extra camera, a device added to the guest network.

  • · Remote network health checks
  • · Same-engineer continuity — no offshore call centre
  • · Small changes handled over the phone where possible
  • · Site visits when they're genuinely needed

Smart home automation — frequently asked

Both. Evolution already installs the network, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, CCTV, Starlink, entertainment and control-cable infrastructure that every smart home depends on. Where a project needs specialist lighting, heating or blinds work, we coordinate with registered electricians and trusted trade partners so the finished system is planned as one — not a collection of separate apps.
