Proper CCTV — specified around the job
We mainly recommend Uniview where it is a good fit, while supporting a range of other suitable CCTV platforms including existing Hikvision and other common systems. The specification is chosen around the purpose of each camera, image detail required, lighting, recording, retention and remote-viewing requirements rather than forcing every property onto one brand or resolution.
- IP cameras selected for the required scene and detail
- Wired PoE (Power over Ethernet)
- Network Video Recorder (NVR)
- Surveillance-grade storage sized to the design
- Mobile app access where the platform supports it
- Additional backup/export options where the system supports them
How a CCTV install works
We start with a walkaround and agree the operational requirement for each camera — for example detecting activity, recognising a person at an entrance, observing a driveway or capturing useful detail at a gate. We then choose the lens/view, mounting position, lighting strategy and cable route around that objective. Cables are run tidily, the recorder is positioned where practical and secure, and we show authorised users how to operate the system before handover.
Who we install for
We fit proportionate wired systems for homeowners, small businesses, retail units, holiday lets, communal properties and landlords. The design starts with what the customer is trying to protect or record, not with selling the maximum number of cameras.
CCTV for Stockport businesses
For shops, offices, workshops, trade counters, hospitality and HMOs, recording retention should be based on the organisation's purpose and documented requirement rather than a universal 30-day rule. We size the NVR/storage to that requirement, configure user permissions around who needs access, and can help with practical positioning, privacy masks and signage considerations. The customer or organisation operating the system remains responsible for its lawful use and data-protection obligations. If an insurer has specific CCTV requirements, send us the written specification and we can design the technical system around those requirements. Out-of-hours installation is available by arrangement.
- Retention and storage sized to the documented requirement
- Role-based user access where supported
- Practical positioning, privacy-mask & signage considerations
- Out-of-hours installation available by arrangement
- Can be designed against insurer-supplied technical requirements
CCTV repair, fault-finding & upgrades
Already have a system that's playing up — cameras gone offline, NVR not recording, app stopped working, or an older setup that needs assessing? We diagnose and repair a range of common systems. See CCTV repair & maintenance in Stockport.
Camera placement starts with what the image must prove
There is no universal camera height or angle that guarantees a useful face or number plate. Mounting too high can reduce facial detail, while mounting too low can create reach or tamper risks. We define the viewing objective first, then choose the camera, focal length, field of view, height and angle so the subject occupies enough of the image in the area that matters. Vehicle registration capture is treated as its own requirement: angle, distance, shutter/lighting and a suitable camera all matter, so an ordinary wide driveway view is not automatically an ANPR view.
- Mounting height and angle chosen for the scene and identification requirement
- WDR-capable cameras where high-contrast scenes justify them
- Dedicated plate-capture / ANPR design where registration detail is required
- Fields of view restricted to the areas needed for the stated purpose
PoE, NVR sizing and storage
NVR and storage sizing depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, bitrate/compression, recording mode, scene activity and the retention period the customer actually needs. We size the recorder and surveillance-grade storage to those variables and allow sensible channel/storage headroom where future expansion is likely, rather than assuming one drive size or retention period fits every system.
Night vision and analytics need the right scene
Low-light performance depends on the camera, available light, lens, mounting position and the area being covered. Human/vehicle classification and other analytics can reduce false alerts on compatible systems, but they do not make false alarms impossible and still need sensible zones, thresholds and scene setup. We choose IR, low-light colour and analytics features around the job rather than treating a marketing feature as a guaranteed result.
What affects the cost
A quote or non-invasive site assessment is free. Once the scope is agreed, the quoted price is fixed for that scope. If hands-on fault diagnosis is needed before the scope can be confirmed, we'll explain any charge before diagnostic work starts. Cost depends on the number and type of cameras, image objectives, cable routes, recorder/storage requirement, access and any integration work. Ring the office on 0161 399 1757 or send a WhatsApp and we'll review planned work during opening hours.
CCTV across Stockport
We cover Stockport, Cheadle, Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Marple, Romiley, the Heatons and the surrounding areas. Often combined with smart doorbell installation, data cabling or network upgrades for a complete setup. On larger new-build and renovation projects, CCTV is planned as part of a complete smart home automation system alongside alarms, access control and the wider network.
Documented CCTV work in Stockport
The photographs below are genuine EDD installation images already held for website use. Their captions state only what the image can support; they are not assigned to an invented neighbourhood, camera count, customer type, security result or brand approval.

Entity details on this page continue to use the site's single business record and provider identifier. Google Business Profile categories, areas and live listing fields still require authorised profile access before they can be treated as verified.
Useful CCTV planning guides
Use these to work out how many camera positions are actually useful, where they should go and whether a wired system fits the job before equipment is specified.
