An office that is ready for people to work

A new desk layout changes more than the number of network sockets. The incoming internet, cabinet location, Wi-Fi coverage, phones, screens and entrances all need to work together. We bring those physical systems into one agreed plan so you have a clear point of contact instead of passing installation problems between suppliers.

New premises, office moves and the infrastructure you inherit

We help businesses opening a first office, moving premises, refurbishing occupied space or expanding onto another floor. If the building already contains unlabelled ports, an untidy cabinet or equipment nobody understands, the first step is to establish what is present, what is usable and what needs attention. A fit-out need not mean replacing everything.

  • New offices and changes of use
  • Office relocations with agreed cutover stages
  • Refurbishments and desk-layout changes
  • New floors, extensions and team expansion
  • Inherited or poorly documented infrastructure
  • Planned disconnection and reconnection

The physical technology layer, supplied and installed

We can combine internet connectivity, structured cabling and fibre, cabinets, switching, routers/firewalls and business Wi-Fi. The same project can include VoIP handset deployment, commercial AV, CCTV, intruder alarms and suitable door-entry and access-control infrastructure.

EDD and your MSP: a clear division of responsibility

EDD owns the agreed physical installation: cable routes and outlets, cabinets, network equipment, Wi-Fi, connected hardware and testing. Your MSP or IT team retains software, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, server software, backups, security software and user accounts unless a separate responsibility is expressly agreed. We coordinate addressing, VLANs, equipment adoption and handover with them so they receive a network they can support.

  • EDD: physical cabling, network and connected hardware
  • MSP: software, accounts, endpoints and specialist IT
  • Shared plan: addressing, access and cutover dependencies
  • Named responsibility for testing and handover

Moving equipment without losing track of it

Where appropriate, we agree which technology equipment we will disconnect, label, physically move and reconnect. Record the source and destination, the connections needed and who authorises shutdown. Servers or specialist systems need the IT provider's shutdown, backup and restart plan; lifting a box does not transfer responsibility for its software or data. Building removals, furniture and general office logistics remain with your removal team.

Plan around the move date, then test the actual workday

Start with the floor plan, access dates and the provider's confirmed internet delivery position. We agree first-fix and second-fix stages, any work in occupied areas and the cutover sequence. Commissioning checks the agreed network points, Wi-Fi areas, phone hardware and AV connections, followed by an understandable handover. Provider activation dates and uninterrupted service are not assumptions built into the quote.

Support once the office is in use

For continuing responsibility for the physical network, discuss business network support. The equipment, access arrangements and support scope are agreed explicitly. For an early planning checklist, read our office move technology guide.
