What we install and repair
Whether you've moved into a property with an existing dish, lost signal after weather or building work, or want a new Freesat or international-satellite installation, we inspect the signal path and equipment before deciding whether the job needs alignment, cabling, an LNB change or a new dish.
- New Freesat dish + receiver installations
- Sky Q compatible dish / LNB work and alignment
- LNB replacement matched to the receiver system
- Cable replacement and re-routing
- Compatible multi-room satellite feeds
- International satellite — including Hot Bird 13°E and Astra 19.2°E
Sky TV & Sky Q installation and repairs
Sky-specific satellite work now has its own dedicated route. Our Sky TV & Sky Q installation and repairs page covers the property-side system — dish, compatible LNB, cabling, alignment, relocation and signal faults — while Sky subscriptions, account changes and Sky-owned receiver equipment remain with Sky.
Proper alignment, signal-tested
Satellite reception depends on accurate dish position, LNB skew, a clear path to the target satellite and a sound cable/LNB system. We use an appropriate satellite meter to identify the target service and peak usable signal quality, then verify the receiver services before handover. We do not rely on arbitrary percentage targets because different meters and receivers report quality differently.
Recent satellite work — Stockport, Cheshire & Manchester
Recent EDD satellite work has included new and replacement dishes, alignment and signal diagnosis in Hazel Grove, Marple, Wilmslow, SK8 and SK4, plus satellite work as part of a commercial outdoor-screen installation in Manchester. The photographs below are genuine EDD satellite installations and repair work already held in our project gallery.

Freesat — subscription-free satellite TV
If you want subscription-free UK satellite TV, see our dedicated Freesat installation page for the current equipment options, existing-dish compatibility and how it compares with terrestrial Freeview.
The alignment itself — quality and margin, not magic percentages
A small movement of a satellite dish can materially change reception, especially where the installation already has little margin. We identify the correct satellite/transponder, adjust azimuth, elevation and LNB skew as required, and peak the installation using quality measurements from the meter. The final check is whether the required services are received reliably with sensible margin for that particular dish, LNB, cable run and location — not whether a receiver happens to display a universal 70%, 80% or 90% figure.
Common dish faults and honest fixes
Common satellite faults include physical dish movement, a failing or incompatible LNB, corroded connectors, water ingress, damaged cable and an obstructed signal path. We test the relevant parts of the system and quote the repair that the evidence supports rather than assuming every loss of signal needs a new dish.
- Dish moved or mount loosened — inspect, realign and secure where suitable
- Failed or incompatible LNB — replace with the type required by the receiver system
- Corroded external connectors — reterminate and weather-seal
- Water-damaged or deteriorated cable — replace the affected run
- Damaged dish or mount — replace and realign where repair is not sensible
International satellite — Hot Bird and Astra 19.2°E
We install and align systems for satellites such as Hot Bird 13°E and Astra 19.2°E where the property has a suitable line of sight. Channel line-ups and packages change over time, so we confirm the target satellite and receiver requirements rather than promising a fixed country/channel list. Dish size, LNB type and mounting position are selected for the target service and the signal conditions at the property rather than using one universal size for every international installation.
Multi-room satellite, Sky Q and dSCR — different systems
Satellite distribution depends on what receivers are being served. Freesat and legacy satellite receivers may require their own compatible LNB feeds. A domestic Sky Q main box uses a compatible Sky Q satellite feed, while Sky Q Mini boxes normally receive their TV service from the main Sky Q system over the home network rather than taking separate dish feeds. Communal flats can use SCR/dSCR multiswitch and communal IRS / MATV systems at the building head-end. We identify which architecture you actually have before changing the LNB, adding feeds or specifying a multiswitch; a passive RF splitter is not a universal substitute for the required satellite distribution method.
Satellite installers across Stockport & East Cheshire
We arrange satellite work across Marple & Romiley, Hazel Grove & Bramhall, Cheadle & Cheadle Hulme, the Heatons, Offerton & Edgeley and Wilmslow & Alderley Edge. Where terrestrial reception is difficult, satellite can be a useful alternative if the property has a clear path to the required satellite.
What affects the cost
A quote or non-invasive site assessment is free. Once the scope is agreed, the quoted price is fixed for that scope. If hands-on fault diagnosis is needed before the scope can be confirmed, we'll explain any charge before diagnostic work starts. Cost depends on the satellite/service required, existing dish and LNB, cable condition, access, mounting position and the amount of new cabling. Ring the office on 0161 399 1757 or send a WhatsApp and we'll explain the next sensible step during opening hours.
