Freesat Installation in Stockport

Freesat provides subscription-free satellite television from Astra 28.2°E, including the main UK public-service channels plus other TV and radio services in the current platform line-up. It can be particularly useful where terrestrial Freeview reception is difficult, or where an existing satellite installation makes Freesat the more practical choice. The property still needs a suitable, unobstructed path to the satellite and a correctly aligned dish system.

We design the installation around the receiver, recording requirements, existing dish/LNB and the signal path at the property. An existing Sky dish can often be reused, but the LNB type is checked first because standard, wideband, hybrid and communal satellite systems are not interchangeable with every receiver.

If an existing Freesat system has lost channels, started breaking up, shows no satellite signal or only works intermittently, we diagnose the signal path before replacing equipment. The fault can sit at the dish alignment, LNB, external connections, coax cabling, split or communal distribution, receiver input or the receiver itself.

A useful repair starts by checking what the receiver reports and then verifying the satellite signal with suitable test equipment where required. If an existing dish, LNB or cable is still serviceable, we keep it rather than turning a repair into an unnecessary full replacement.

Freeview uses a terrestrial TV aerial; Freesat uses a satellite dish. Both provide subscription-free television, but their channel line-ups, equipment and reception requirements are different and can change over time. If terrestrial reception at the property is already strong and provides everything you watch, keeping Freeview may be the simplest answer. If Freeview reception is poor, you already have suitable satellite infrastructure, or you prefer the current Freesat line-up and features, Freesat may be the better fit.

Where a meter check or coverage prediction shows Freeview is not the best option, Freesat can provide an alternative using a clear satellite path. Customers moving away from Sky often already have a useful satellite mounting position and dish. That can make a Freesat changeover straightforward, but we do not assume the existing LNB is compatible just because the dish says Sky.
