When 4G or 5G is worth considering
Mobile broadband can be useful where the available fixed service does not meet the property's needs, where an interim connection is required, or where a second access technology would improve resilience. It is not automatically faster than FTTC or fibre: real performance depends on the local network, signal quality, spectrum, congestion, device capability and the data plan, so we test before recommending it.
What's actually installed
A good mobile-broadband installation is a complete radio and network design rather than simply adding the biggest antenna available. We match the router, SIM/network, supported 4G/5G bands, MIMO configuration, antenna type and cable route to the conditions at the property.

Primary connection, temporary service or backup
Farms, rural properties, temporary sites, outbuildings and businesses can all have legitimate uses for 4G / 5G. As a backup connection it can restore internet access when the primary WAN fails, but failover does not guarantee that every live application session continues without interruption. Existing calls, VPNs, payment sessions or other connections may need to reconnect when the WAN path or public IP changes, so we design resilience around what the site actually needs to keep operating.
Measured on site, not sold from a postcode map
Coverage maps are a useful starting point but cannot guarantee the experience at one mounting position. We assess relevant networks where practical and use router diagnostics such as RSRP, RSRQ and SINR alongside real throughput testing to understand both signal level and quality. We also look at performance at sensible times and positions because congestion and local obstructions can change the result. The goal is to show you the evidence available at the property before committing to a permanent installation.
Antennas, mounting and cable loss
Directional is not automatically better than omni-directional, and 5G does not always require visual line of sight to a mast. The right antenna depends on the available bands, MIMO requirements, surrounding masts, signal quality and mounting options. We use a compatible external antenna where it improves the installation, keep antenna-cable losses and connector requirements in mind, and mount and protect the equipment in line with the manufacturer's requirements and the site conditions.
Local 4G / 5G installations need local measurements
Coverage can change over short distances around Stockport, Marple, High Lane, Disley and the surrounding rural fringe because terrain, buildings, trees and mast loading all matter. We therefore avoid postcode-wide promises such as one network always being best in a village or a connection being available within a fixed number of hours.
