Birds, rooftops and reception faults
Birds can leave droppings and nesting material around rooftop equipment, but their presence does not prove they caused a television fault. If reception is also poor, we inspect the aerial, mounting, cable and visible connections and test the signal before recommending repair work. We only link bird activity to a fault where the inspection supports it.
What we can install
Physical bird spikes are intended to make a suitable perch less attractive. The product, coverage and fixing method depend on the equipment, surface, access and activity found at the property. Spikes must not obstruct aerial elements, dish movement, cables, flues, vents or safe maintenance access.

A site-specific approach
One spike strip does not suit every rooftop or every bird-pressure problem. The shape and width of the perch, surrounding landing points, equipment movement and fixing surface all matter. If spikes would be ineffective, could interfere with the installation or fall outside our safe working scope, we will explain that before quoting and recommend specialist advice where appropriate.
Wild birds and active nests
Wild birds, their eggs and their nests are protected by law. The linked GOV.UK guidance applies to England. Current Natural England and Defra guidance states that a wild bird's nest must not be intentionally taken, damaged or destroyed while it is being built or used, and a wild bird's egg must not be intentionally taken or destroyed.
We inspect the proposed work area whenever deterrent work is considered. If a nest is being built or used, or eggs are present, we do not disturb it and the work is deferred. March to August is commonly treated as the main breeding period, but it is not the legal test: the actual nest must be checked whatever the date. Where the position is unclear or licensed action may be required, the customer should seek advice from Natural England or a suitably qualified wildlife specialist.

Materials, fixing methods and expected service life vary by product, exposure, substrate and installation. We do not apply a universal ten-year lifespan or describe every installation as reversible. A product's use by a rail operator, council or other organisation would not prove that it is approved or suitable for this property, so we make no authority-equivalence claim. The proposed product and fixing approach are selected for the actual equipment and roof detail, using current manufacturer information where available.
